DAHS DECA Students Shine at State Conference, Three Qualify for Internationals in Orlando

Three students were awarded the opportunity to compete at the International Career and Development Conference in Orlando, FL April 26-29.  Connor Thompson earned First Place and the honor of being named the State Champion in the Independent Business Plan Event.  He proposed the creation of a lotion specifically designed to help swimmers with dry skin and irritation caused by the effects of chlorine.
 
Taylor Roy and Morgan Brubaker won top honors and earned ICDC qualification for their Sales Project by organizing a 5K Run and Walk event during the summer of 2024.  They raised over $1,200 for the DECA chapter because of their extraordinary efforts.  The project was well organized, implemented, and designed earning them their State Championship Top 5 Status.
 
Other members also earned top honors at the Grand Awards session for their amazing efforts.  Charlie Smith was awarded the Top Model in the State honors in the modeling competition. Charlie earned State Champion honors.  Isabelle Bartruff repeated her Top Model status this year being honored as the Female state runner-up.  Isabelle also received top role play honors in both of her role plays in the Apparel and Accessories competition.  Brie Rose earned the runner-up award for her submission in the Digital Advertising Event.  Serena Aleprete was awarded DuBois DECA's top test score recipient in her event, Integrated Marketing Campaign - Product.
 
The DuBois DECA officer team deserves recognition for their amazing efforts in organizing and preparing our entire DECA team.  Saige Nelson, Brookelynn Scolese, Hannah Rehar, Jenna Mowrey, and Isabelle Bartruff are the officers of the DuBois HS DECA club.  They have dedicated much of their time to attending summer workshops, organizing DECA recruiting efforts, planning and educating our students, and organizing all events throughout the year.  They are the HEART of the organization and we are so blessed to have them keep the pulse of the club beating strong every single day.

We are incredibly proud of all our students and how well they represented our school at this event. With over 3,800 members competing, DuBois not only earned high honors but also gained respect across the state. A special thank you to Gretchen Clark and Amanda Rosman for chaperoning and ensuring our students' safety throughout the three-day competition.
